Welcome!
Lesson 2 Tutorial
1
The Banner:
Let's say I start with what is commonly called a banner or the mast. That
is the top of the webpage where your logo goes.
You don't have to keep to this. You can put your logo anywhere you want!
You are the creator! A banner can be any size
you want it to be! Most banners though are 460x60 or 468x68. But we are
designers, you do not have to follow that! You can
make it as big or as small as you like!
Marketing Tip: Red is the most attractive
color to the eye. Your eye will automatically
go to and see anything that is red..unless you are color blind.
In your paint program let's pick the color tool or dropper ,
(Left side of your screen) and click on a red color.
Double click on
one of these 2 boxes (this is on the right side of your screen)
Some programs might call it a swatch.
and this comes up.

You can use your dropper( )
to pick any color on the box.
Next click on the draw shapes tool.
that is the one on the very bottom.
You will notice a box come up. This lets you decide if you want to choose
rectangle, circle, square, etc. Choose Rectangle.

If you do not see this box(the one above this line),
go up to view, toolbars...
and check the control palette.

Now you can create your rectangle.
You can choose whatever you like.
You have a choice if you want to fill the rectangle with color or just
make an outline. I chose fill with color.
Here is an example:
(Note: I have added borders to this so you can see where page is. I have
made it a bit smaller so that it loads faster. As we get to the
end of this (tutorial 3, I will make it a normal size 800 x 600)).
O.K. Now we have a banner. Let's add text. Click on your text tool
(the A), and type something you would
like your banner to say, and click o.k. The text box will close and you
can place your text anywhere on the page you like.
I typed Your Logo Here.
I hope you are following me so far.
O.K. onto a graphic link.
First we have to make another graphic and put it on the same page as
our banner.
Let's make another rectangle on the right side of the screen,
and fill it with the Red Color. If
you are following me exactly, your picture should look something like
this.
NOTE: Try to line up the right edges of your banner and links area.

now let's add some text in the rectangle we just made. (These will be
our links eventually).
Click on the color picker tool and choose white, then click on the text
tool, and add whatever text you want your website
to link to. I chose:
1. Home
2. Ebay
3. Links
4. Contact Me
Your page should now look like this:

Notice I lined the rectangle ends (banner and links rectangles) at the
same point. That makes it look crisp and clean.
Great if you have followed me so far...You get an A+
If you are following me but with some trouble, you still get an A+, because
you are learning!!!
Good for you. Next we will add this graphic into Dreamweaver!
End of lesson 2
Let's go to Lesson
3
Make sure you can do all of these things before proceeding!
