Welcome Back!

Lesson 3 Tutorial 1

Wooohooo, were are almost there!

Now lets open Dreamweaver.

Insert your graphic.

You should have a blank page. If you do, GREAT! If not go up to File (top left hand side) and click new.

Next, click on...Insert...

You will see the arrow I put in this graphic showing you where the insert is.

Click on Insert, and click Image.

and find...BannerandLinktext.gif
Choose o.k., and your page should look like this!

Now we will link the page.

Click on the graphic you just inserted and you will see this property box come up. If you do not have a property
box, go up to the top of your screen and click on the Window pull down menu, and click on Properties.

In the Link area...type...Home.html

Now do the same with Ebay, Links, and Contact Me.
Make the rectangle on the graphic with the hotspot tool, and type in the link to...

Ebay. Type in the link box...
Ebay.html

Do the same with Links. Type in the link box
Links.html

Do the same with Contact Me. Type in the link box
ContactMe.html (no spaces)

NOTE: In Contact Me, make sure you do not leave a blank space.
ie...type ContactMe.html
NOT Contact Me.html

The reason is, Dreamweaver and alot of other programs may have a problem with spaces
when you start linking it to another page.

Your page should now look like this:

You can add links any place you like. It is totally up to you. Don't let ANYONE tell you where they have to be!!!
It is your website, and you can put the links anywhere you choose...thank you very much!

I once worked with a client who had only seen links on the left side of a page, and they demanded it had to be like this.
Of course I put them there, since they had to have it that way, but YOU do not.

Doing things differently or finding new ways to do the same thing is THINKING OUT OF THE BOX!
(Unless your with a client, by all means do it their way), if you want to get paid!!!

We are going to Save this same homepage as....are you ready...

Ebay.html

Links.html

ContactMe.html (add something on the contact me page like your email address).

Did you do it? Great!

Now you are probably saying to yourself, now I have 4 pages that are all the same...eeekkkk!

Yes that's right! And that is exactly what you should have!

That is how you get fluency! All links on the page are at the exact same spot, the banner is at the same spot, etc.!!!

GOOD JOB!

Now we need to add something to spruce up this rather dull and boring page. Lets add a really
Cool graphic somewhere.

First, Insert a layer.

This is what a layer looks like:

Click inside the layer, and go back to Insert, then insert an image, and click on the ordmustang.gif

Here is how it looks...

Then Paste it anywhere in your page that you want it to be. I put mine on the bottom left.

Your graphic should look similar to this:

End of lesson 3
Let's go to Lesson4
Make sure you can do all of these things before proceeding!
